Armitage Architecture led the $2.9M renovation of the historic YWCA of the Niagara Frontier building in North Tonawanda, NY, transforming it into 12 residential apartments, administrative offices, a social enterprise café, and a commercial teaching kitchen. The design preserved 98% of the building envelope, incorporated energy-efficient systems, and met strict historic preservation guidelines. The revitalized facility now serves as a welcoming, secure, and functional community hub supporting the YWCA’s mission.
Armitage Architecture transformed the historic 1880 Schafer Malt House in Buffalo, NY, into 32 modern apartments while preserving its unique architectural character. The $6.3M renovation retained original steel columns, heavy timber and steel structure, brick barrel ceilings, and replicated historic windows to meet energy efficiency standards. The design balanced strict preservation requirements with modern amenities, creating a distinctive residential community in a landmark building.
